The environmental cost of producing a meat based quarter pounder (thats just the beef) is around 51 times the carbon footprint of producing a quarter pound of corn, maize, wheat or soy.

In economical terms you need to feed a cow roughly 7 kgs of corn, maize, wheat or soy for every 1 kg of beef you get from it’s slaughtered remains, so by cutting out the middle man, or in this case the cow you are reducing the economic cost by 85 %
