Environmental Impact of the Beef & Dairy Industry on Climate Breakdown
SEASON 7 – EPISODE 2 – Environmental Impact of the Beef & Dairy Industry on Climate Breakdown
We all hold on to this vaguely romantic notion, of Daisy the cow, happily trotting around a field, chewing on a daisy, then being willingly and lovingly milked in the corner of the field by a smiling buxom wench each morning, then let back to amble happily around the field, until finally Daisy becomes to old to give milk, and then sadly she needs to be put down at which point she is humanely put to sleep with the the same caring buxom wench that has milked her for the last 18 years nuzzling her, crying and whispering soothingly into Daisy’s ear until her last breath.
Then of course we know the rest. In order to eat daisy we have to disassociate the ribeye steak, rump steak, sirloin steak, cheeseburger, Sunday roast, spaghetti bolonegse, sausages or piece of brisket with Daisy the cow, and she becomes essentially beef.
The reality today is very different from this story book view, to the point where the huge scale of industrial farming and slaughtering of these sentient beings is now threatening the very environment and life support that humanity itself needs to continue to exist on the earth.
